Lisinopril is used alone treat high blood pressure and can be used in combination with other medications. When used in combination with other medications it used to treat heart failure and improve survival after a heart attack. Lisinopril is in a class of medications called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It works by decreasing certain chemicals that tighten the blood vessels, thus blood flows more smoothly around the body and therefore the heart can pump blood more easily.
