The interactive software jmol which displays the molecules on this web site allows the extra facility to view them using 3D stereo glasses. This gives the viewer the added impression of depth as well as the ability to interactively rotate the molecules. Amazing views of the chemical structure can be seen, and the extra depth shows hidden detail, enabling you to see through complex models. It is a powerful way to visualize scientific molecules.
All
you need are the red/cyan (or blue) glasses, these are often given
away free with children's magazines and comics, or will come with
3D movies or videos, you probably will have one lying around in
a desk drawer at home. Schools can cheaply purchase hundreds of
these for school experiments or learning tasks.
To display the structures in jmol as red/cyan models with these glasses, simply click on the Jmol icon and select Render, Stereographic, Red+Cyan glasses - as shown below. This will produce the view shown on the right which has the 3D stereo depth information.
