Oxaprozin is used for acute and long-term use in the management of the signs and symptoms of steo-arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Oxaprozin (DayproŽ) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that also has analgesic and antipyretic properties. Oxaprozin is readily absorbed following oral dosing with peak plasma concentrations occurring at 3 to 5 hours, and an elimination half-life of 42 to 50 hours. Because of the long half-life, it takes several days of dosing to reach steady state plasma levels, and several days before the full effects of therapy are reached. Oxaprozin is essentially totally bound to plasma protein (albumin).
